Skateboard Design and Giveaway!

We recently received an amazing donation of 24 new skateboards and helmets for new skaters at SOLID Foundation! Thank you to the Foster Love Foundation and Ivan Ramirez at Safe Lite Parsippany for making the connection and generous gift.

Graphic Design

Participants started with pencil and paper to draw, sketch and plan out their skateboard graphic design.

Skateboarding and board graphics have always been an integral part of how we (as skateboarders) express ourselves and tell the world who we are. For most of our participants - this was their first time designing and channeling their creativity in this way - on a skateboard deck. When they were finished with their design sketch, they used paint markers and stickers to customize board graphics to make it their own.

It was encouraging to see how many young people wanted to show gratitude toward SOLID for this opportunity. One student included “SOLID is the GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time) in her graphic. She was so excited to have a skateboard of her own!

Again, thank you so much Ivan at Safe Lite for tracking us down to make this amazing donation! Over half the boards found a home at our Fun Friday workshop, and we look forward to the next opportunity we have to give the other boards away - spreading the love, positivity and community that skateboarding has brought into our lives.
